Somatic Care + Integenerational Money Work

“What if you could hear the world between your heartbeats? Slow down enough to deepen into trust.”
- Alexis Pauline Gumbs in Undrowned: Black Feminist Lessons from Marine Mammals

You’re the one others rely on — showing up, holding it all together, caring for everyone else. You’ve learned to push through, even when your body is asking you to slow down.

You might be feeling the weight of burnout, racial battle fatigue, perfectionism, or the impact of navigating systems not built with your wellbeing in mind.

I work with people who are ready to explore their healing through the body — who want to reconnect with themselves in a space that honors both personal experience and systemic context. Whether you're seeking individual therapy, support in your relationships, or space to examine your relationship with money or care, this is a space for you to feel held, seen, and resourced.

Welcome to Liberated Care!

Hi, there!

I’m Candice, founder of Liberated Care Therapy and Consulting—a Black-owned, woman-founded practice based in Toronto, Ontario. I work with care workers and adults who want to explore the connections between trauma, their bodies, and intergenerational money stories.

I know that finding a therapist can feel overwhelming, and what matters most is whether we’ll vibe and if I can help with the challenges you’re bringing. My goal is to create a space where you can bring the intersections of your identity and experience, so that together we can navigate your healing journey in a way that feels affirming.

Beyond one-on-one therapy, I also work as a mentor, consultant, and facilitator, supporting individuals and organizations in creating trauma-aware spaces that look at health within the context of larger systems. Whether I’m guiding someone through a personal healing process, facilitating workshops, or consulting with an organization, my aim is always to hold space for complexity and to offer body-based care.

I center the experiences of Black, Indigenous, and People of the Global Majority, as well as 2SLGBTQ+ and immigrant communities. I bring my whole self to the work—part body wisdom advocate, part resource queen—so you can feel supported both emotionally and practically.

Somatic + Relational Work

  • Reconnecting with your body can be challenging, especially if trauma has made it feel unsafe or unfamiliar. In individual therapy, we slow down together to gently notice what your body is communicating, making space for your experience without rushing to fix it. This somatic approach helps uncover the stories and wisdom your body holds, opening new possibilities for healing and growth.

  • I support couples and duos exploring disconnection and connection in relationships. Together, we slow down to navigate communication challenges, trust issues, shifting roles, and conflict, creating space for clarity and deeper connection.

This work includes romantic partners, friends, siblings, or collaborators.

  • A space for BIPOC professionals in education, healthcare, HR, social impact, and organizational equity roles to access support and care.

This mentorship space attends to the deeper, often unspoken layers that shape your work and wellbeing — including money trauma, the emotional toll of care and institutional labour, and systemic inequities that rarely get named or fairly compensated.

It is for anyone who wants to relate to work, money, and wellbeing differently. Together, we rebuild boundaries and focus on sustainable practices that support your wellbeing.

  • This work supports your relationship with money using somatic practices, personal reflection, and strengths-based tools. It’s a compassionate space to explore your money origin stories with curiosity and care—no budgeting spreadsheets, just deeper understanding and healing.

Single sessions and 3-session coaching packages are available.

  • My facilitation is relational, reflective, and liberatory. I help participants connect their lived experiences to systemic critiques, affirm their instincts, and imagine new pathways — all while gently guiding them toward community and self-preservation.

I consult and partner with organizations to design trauma-informed, equity-centered learning experiences that foster connection and growth.

In addition, I offer onsite embedded mental health support services for wellness spaces with a somatic approach.
