Liberated Rhythms

The Backstory

Candice Frederick, somatic therapist and founder of Liberated Rhythms membership
Hello!

Why I’m building a somatic community and life design space for Black women and changing bodies

I didn’t create Liberated Rhythms because I have it all perfectly figured out. I created it because I grew tired of trying to force a Black body with all kinds of capacity ups and downs into a rigid structure. I know what it feels like to navigate burnout, to face medical dismissal, and to watch your energy shift from week to week while trying to manage a life and a bank account.

My focus isn’t about teaching you how to hustle harder or fix yourself. It’s about creating a soft place to land where you can figure out how to befriend your body. I bring my training in somatic care and systemic trauma to the table, but you bring the truths about your experience. We get to practice something different than what we’ve been taught together.

You’re allowed to design your life around your body

Do you feel stuck in a maze?  Not sure if other people are in there with you?

Meanwhile, the world keeps demanding your labour. You still have to make dinner, be the boss or explain yourself to a boss, get dressed, show up for your relationships and interact with the public.

But your body and your capacity keep fluctuating.  You experience medical gaslighting and dismissal.  You roll your eyes at the whole directive to speak to your doctor. Not because you don’t need medical care but because you have tried, and it hasn’t gone well.

Maybe you've been tracking your cycle. Or managing a diagnosis. Or recovering from something — an injury, burnout / overwork, a season that asked too much. And somewhere in all of that, you started to wonder: what am I actually supposed to do with this information about my body? How do I build a life — and maybe a business — that works with my body instead of against it?

Liberated Rhythms is a digital membership built with Black women and changing bodies at the centre.  This is a learning community where shared wisdom and community care are at the centre. Here we get to learn more about putting our bodies at the centre of our life design.

And we get to talk about money. Because the body and bank account are not separate conversations.

What this space holds

  • An audio recording and a digital tool to help you take what you are learning about your body and translate into a practice.

  • Maybe productivity looks different if your body is changing. This is designed as a low-demand space — you engage when it makes sense. Rest is part of the architecture here. This is a space that is not meant to add to your to do list.

For a little preview, check out and download these Low Capacity Scripts

  • Liberated Care will take 5% of our launch revenue to fund rest and restoration for a Black health practitioner that the Liberated Rhythms community nominates. After that, we will do a quarterly nomination.
